A week or so before this shoot Chantel emailed me and asked if I had any great inspiration for this shoot….and I think she was sorry she asked because she spent the next five days blowing up beach balls….kidding! She used an air compressor 😉
I always have so much fun with this family and I always have just as much fun editing the pictures as I do taking them! I see each of the kids distinct personalities come out as I look at the pictures and sometimes I find myself giggling behind my computer at how cute these kiddos are!!
When I photograph kids from birth onwards each shoot gets a little easier…a little easier because they grow up and start to take direction and a little easier because I really get to know kids when I see them multiple times per year. I’ve never met a two year old with quite as much charm as Jack has. I especially loved it when he ran away from me at the shoot, but he turned and smiled mid break away. Ruby….man, I really feel like i’m starting to wear this little lady down…there was even a moment in this shoot when she didn’t want to give up the spotlight! She’s such a little fire cracker! And then there’s Jordan…from our first shoot at the library together when she told me “I be two” to her getting ready to go to school this fall – I have SO enjoyed having her grown up in front of my camera!! And I know that so many blog readers have enjoyed watching her grow up on the blog as well!
I hope you all enjoy this shoot as much as I enjoyed capturing it! I love the essential elements of summer we incorporated into it….beach balls, sunnies and ice cream!

A couple of weeks ago I met sweet little Bennett on a gorgeous (and sightly mosquito filled) night to take some one year photos! Bennett’s mom Jennifer gets major points for all the planning she did! After checking out my Pinterest board for some ideas on what to bring along for the shoot she packed some bubbles (which were a hit!), Bennett’s quilt, a chair that was Bennett’s dads and some watermelon to end off the shoot with! The watermelon was a hit! Once he got the hang of what to do he was in there like a dirty shirt….or maybe that’s with a dirty shirt 😉 te he.
Bennett’s quilt was so beautiful! Made especially for him by his Auntie! I love it when people bring along special blankets like this because it makes their photos truly unique to them! And sometimes these things tell us little things about the family…did you notice the cute little airplanes on Bennett’s quilt? His dad Nolan is an air traffic controller 🙂
It was such a pleasure to spend the evening with these three…enjoy!!

Last summer this family came into the city to visit me for their session and this summer it worked out for me to go visit them on their stomping grounds. To say I was excited when I pulled up to their country yard would be an understatement, old barns, sheds an old bike a retro tricycle…I LOVE country yards! I could have shot there all day! Since the last time we saw this family Brooklyn and Taylor have welcome a little sister, Brielle! Three little ladies and they each have such different and fun personalities.
ENJOY!!

It seems as though every summer there is one shoot that gets rained out again and again, this summer this shoot was it! We had to reschedule three times! But the wait was well worth it, we ended up with a gorgeous sunny evening, not too hot, not too cold and long before any bugs were out! The perfect evening for Paige to strut her stuff in her pretty little sun dress and her cute Minnie Mouse sunnies! Not to mention the bun….she totally rocks the bun!
This special shoot was to mark Paige’s second birthday, she came all ready to go with her big brother Wyatt in tow – who was a great help keeping Paige’s attention and keeping her smiling! I love to capture all different sides of kids, because lets face it – you can’t expect to be “on” and “cheesing” all.the.time. As I was going through these pictures I feel like I captured many different sides of Paige – pensive, smiley, giggly and sassy! It was fun to just let her do her thing and explore and play! I think the pictures show just how much fun we had!!
ENJOY!
