There’s something about the age between 18 months and 24 months that just makes kids want to run around….all the time! This can make for interesting photo sessions if we try to make those kiddos stay in one place, so I don’t 😉 My favourite way to approach these sessions is as though i’m just following around a little explorer, so on this warm August morning I followed around Cavell as she explored the park with her mom and dad. She showed me her pretty new shoes and we watched planes, played with buttons and bubbles and explored in the long grasses. All it takes is one big smile from Cavell to melt your heart….those beautiful big eyes must make it hard for mom and dad to ever say no to this little princess!
It had been a while since I had seen her at her one year shoot so I loved to listen to her talk in her sweet little voice and hear all the new things she has learned since then. She is so smart!!
Hope you enjoy the pics as much as we enjoyed exploring together!
“This was fun and all…but i’m outta here!”

There are so many cute little things I love about Lucie; those BIG blue eyes, those tiny little teeth and those cute little faces that she makes! Even when I took her newborn photos she was making cute little faces at me and she didn’t disappoint at her 6 month shoot!
Lucie brought along some adorable ensembles from her closet and she even let me help pick out what she would wear (three cheers for rompers!)! But my favourite thing she brought along was a gorgeous quilt that was made for her with lots of love by her Grandma. Isn’t it so beautiful? I love all the colours! I love it when clients bring along something special like this to work into their photos that is special and unique to them.

When Lynda and I were planning a location for this shoot we were brainstorming and I listed a few places as options and one of them sparked something that made Lynda realize we had the perfect location just waiting for us in her own sisters back yard! When I pulled up at the yard I was instantly giddy when I saw some old run down buildings, big trees, wooden fences, my favorite kind of country spot!….so many options and didn’t even make it around to all of them! We will definitely be visiting again in the future! I wish I could just transplant the yard to Winnipeg so I could shoot there ALL the time!
We had such a relaxing afternoon visiting, snapping, watching Reid dig into his candy that he got at the parade that morning. When this family gets together in front of the camera they are so good at ignoring me and paying all the attention to their kids…I love it and the fun natural family pictures that come out of it.
Sweet little Beth has grown even more cute since the last time we saw her! Chubby six month limbs (my fave!), sparkling blue eyes and blonde hair just like her big brother! It was so easy to get her to smile, I think all it took was for me to smile at her! She was happy as can be, especially when her brother was near! These two are so cute together, Reid smothers her with love and hugs and it’s really cute to see in the pictures whenever Reid is near Beth is often reaching out to him. Awe.
Enjoy!

During the summer visits out to my hometown are fewer and quicker because my schedule is jam packed with shoots out here in Winnipeg. I usually only have time for a few shoots out in Winkler while I’m there since I like to spend my time out there with my family so this lovely little family took the time to come visit me in Winnipeg when I couldn’t squeeze them in out in Winkler and I’m SO glad they did, how cute are these two little ladies?
Funny story. I was in Fargo one weekend almost three years ago with my sister and we were sitting in the pool area at the C’Mon Inn when we saw Melissa (mom) with her little lady Brooklyn across the pool area. My sister is best friends with Brooklyn’s auntie so she told me “that’s Lynda’s niece” to which I replied….”She’s so cute! I want to take her picture!” Lucky me! I finally got the chance to take pictures of Brooklyn and her little sister Taylor. Who wouldn’t want to take their picture? Those eyes, the rosy cheeks, the pigtails (LOVE pigtails!) and their pretty pink nails painted just for this!
When we were talking about locations for this session Melissa mentioned that they are “country” – no downtown locations for them. So what would be more perfect that a field, a dirt road and some bush out in the country. The only thing that would have made it a little more perfect would have been less wind….and fewer mosquitoes!
Enjoy!
