One chilly day in the beginning of October I went to meet brand new baby Ryan! It might have been cold outside but we were toasty inside with the fireplace going keeping Ryan nice and warm while he slept and slept and slept. Okay, so maybe the rest of us were a tad bit warm but anything to keep the baby sleeping right?! Ryan’s big sister Lyla played so nicely while we took pictures of Ryan and every now and then came to peek in on her brother and see how things were going.
I LOVED Ryan’s hair and the sweet smiles he gave me….enjoy!!

I always send a few tips and suggestions before newborn sessions in an effort to have newborn sessions as dreamy as possible, and by dreamy I mean sleepy 🙂 I told Kelly if her schedule allowed she should try to feed Mackenzie shortly before we started, when I arrived Mackenzie was just finishing up that snack and after she finished eating she slipped into her “milk coma” and slept the whole time! Mission accomplished! We head out to their sunroom in the back of their yard and had a relaxing shoot in there, Jack Johnson was quietly playing in the background, the heater was going and keeping us all toasty white Mackenzie slept and slept and slept. Mackenzie sure is a little doll, don’t ya think?

This little one just couldn’t wait to arrive! Asha surprised her parents about 6 weeks early and she’s the smallest newborn i’ve photographed to date weighing in under 5 pounds when I went to visit her! You’ll recognize this gorgeous family from a shoot I did for their Winnipeg wedding reception and they were also models for us when Kara and I launched Jack and Ruby. Leah has always been such a supporter, leaving so many comments on the blog and always having lovely encouraging words for me, so i’m super excited to now have her little girl on the blog!
Leah and Daivin are sliding right into their parental roles so naturally, it was so fun to see them loving on Asha, talking softly to her about how much they loved her and showering her with kisses! Daivin was a pro at getting Asha back into dreamland after we moved or re-wrapped her.
It was so fun to photograph the three of them together since Leah and Daivin are so comfortable in front of the camera. All the love and connection between the three of them makes these some of my favourite family newborn photos!

Sweet baby Finley had her first photo shoot back in the middle of July. She was a photographers dream….so sleepy the whole time! I’m pretty sure she’s mom and dad’s dream come true too – those sweet blonde locks, chubby cheeks, tiny fingers, what a doll!
I had a lovely morning with Marcia and Rich, it was so relaxed just hanging out, taking some pictures and watching their baby girl. Don’t you just love how you can just watch a newborn for so long and even though they might not be doing anything in particular, everything seems special? Each little twitch of their mouth, movement of their hands, yawn and smile is so much fun to watch.
