When we started planning this session we just knew it had to be an outside session, Jen and Phil love the outdoors and it’s not often we get nice mild temperatures in early January! We couldn’t let it go to waste! As the day started approaching I was a little worried the session would look like a November session and not a January session because we had very little snow…and with the temperatures that week jumping above zero I was sure any snow that was left would be gone for the shoot! But we lucked out and the day before the shoot the city got sprinkled with a gorgeous thick layer of snow! AND the temperatures stayed mild…WIN!
Jen and I go waaaay back. Way back to the early days in Winkler when I was just a rink rat watching the older figure skaters from behind the glass at the Winkler arena just dreaming of the day I would be out there with them. Jen’s lucky I haven’t made it to my parents house between this blog post and then because I might have been tempted to scan some old pictures just to prove that we knew each other way back when! I love how photography has allowed me to reconnect with old friends and watch them take oh. so. exciting steps in their lives. Jen and Phil are expecting their first lil babe very soon and I can’t wait to meet him or her!
Enjoy these photos from our very lovely winter day!
In the “baby world” there is a trend of having “gender reveal parties” something I think is so cool and fun! The parents to be and all their close family get together and a ballon release, or cutting a cake, or something at the party signals the gender of the baby. This summer one weekend Kevin and Colleen planned to have their families over for a gender reveal BBQ….when the family came over they would know by the menu whether this little babe was going to be a boy or a girl….hamburgers for a girl, hot dogs for a boy (te he). When the family came over, it was hamburgers on the BBQ and adorable pink cupcakes baked and decorated by this talented mom to be! A GIRL!
Her pink paradise is ready and her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends anxiously await the arrival of the little princess in about a month (give or take 😉 ). Even though she’s not here yet there are a few things we already know about this little peanut: one – she is going to be soo cute! How can she not be with two such great looking parents! Two – she is going to be oh-so loved and spoiled by all the loving family that surrounds her! Three – her dad is not going to cut the cord when she comes into the world!
I met up with Kevin and Colleen a couple weeks ago to photograph Colleen’s adorable bump and capture their excitement as they get ready to bring their little princess into the world! We started out at an old school, headed to my secret forest and then finished off in my favorite late fall setting – a corn field! If her fabulous blue eyes look familiar they should! They are related to these famous blue eyes! This little peanut is going to be a cousin to two of the most photographed B2 Kiddos – Mackenzie and Owen! I can just see these three growing up together, getting into a little mischief and making many memories on their family holidays!
Thanks for the fun evening you two! Can’t wait to meet your baby girl!!!
