I love how photography connects people….it has brought new friends into my life and old friends back into my life. Cheryl was probably one of my very first friends….I have pictures of us together in many skating carnivals when we were little tots, we went to Sunday school together, school together…you get the idea. When you grow up in a smaller town/city after high school many people part ways and move away for school, missions, love and whatever else. Cheryl’s adventures led her to Pennsylvania where she now lives with her hubby and ADORABLE daughter Elyse. When Cheryl left a sweet comment on my Facebook Page about dreaming of a shoot with me her sister stepped into action and emailed me about booking a shoot for them when they were out for a visit. It was so much fun planning with her sister Lori because I knew how much Cheryl was going to love the surprise!
The day of the shoot finally rolled around and while the weather was a bit windy and cold, we made the best of it and even found some shelter from the wind in an empty shed. Elyse was such a little super star, entertaining us all with her sweetness and smarts! How cute are her pigtails??
Cheryl – I really hope this will not be our last shoot together! It was so wonderful to see you and meet your sweet family!!
Enjoy!

At the beginning of September on one GORGEOUS evening I met up with this lovely family for some photo fun! Mom had packed a wagon full of distractions just in case the girls needed them but they were such a dream to work with we hardly had to pull anything out! How cute are these two girlies? Raina and those gorgeous curls, Clara and those striking blue eyes – the camera loved them!
This session was at one of my favourite parks and we shot it later in the day so we got to take advantage of that gorgeous fall light! Hard to believe just a few weeks ago the trees had green leaves on them and it was 25 degrees outside! Fall passes so fast and it’s my very favorite season so I’m always sad to see it go. Lucky for us we’ll be able to relive it through some gorgeous family photos coming up on the blog throughout the month!
Enjoy!!

Avery’s mom Kate and I had been emailing for a while about this session. When she first emailed me she told me that she loved the Daydream sessions and wanted to do one with her daughter. I sent her a bunch of ideas and links to some inspiration boards on Pinterest and she decided a picnic would be perfect for Avery. So I started a new pinboard for “Avery’s Picnic” and Kate went at it collecting and crafting all kinds of things for the session. Kate, Rob and Avery showed up at the session with an SUV filled with pretties for the session…antique tray, mason jars of berries, cupcakes, flowers, blankets and pillows galore! My very favorite thing Kate brought along was the GORGEOUS fabric garland she made to hang in the trees! It was so beautiful with strips of pink, white and min colored fabric and even a few strands of sequined trim thrown in. LOVE!
Lucky for us we had a GORGEOUS evening for the session, it was warm and sunny and perfect for a picnic in the middle of nowhere! The sun danced and sparkled off the grass in the open space beside us (have I mentioned I LOVE shooting at the end of the day??) giving Avery lots of room to run around when she needed a break or just needed some time to be playful with mom and dad. Avery charmed the camera with her big eyes and ever so sweet personality! She was such a super star and we were able to hold her attention for ALL the fun we had planned!

Well this shoot was a long time in the making, after a couple of rain dates in July we finally had a beautiful night for this shoot in late August. Tracy packed up their picnic basket for her little family and we all head out to Birds Hill Park for some fun at the beach!! Doesn’t Jack look he was just made to be on the beach? That blonde hair, those blue eyes and his sun kissed skin (he has more colour than I do!), a very cute little beach boy!
I LOVE the family images from this session, so much fun and colour and LIFE! I love a playful family session with upside down kiddos, spinning, cuddling, shoulder rides….i’ll take it all! All of that made it very hard to narrow down this blog post….so i’m posting LOTS. Enjoy!!!
