Meet Eliana! Her mom won my annual Love Day Giveaway and we planned a celebration session to mark her first birthday! You know me, I love some (or a lot!) of colour and I wanted to make this session bright, colourful and fun! Mission accomplished! One of my favourite colours in this shoot was the bright blue of sweet Eliana’s eyes! She’s a looker!!

Photo shoots for kiddos with winter birthdays sometimes requires a little bit of extra creativity! We had so much fun with Lucie’s Celebration Session last year that we decided to plan another fun one this year. After a few emails back and forth we picked out two backdrop ideas – balloons and a flower garland. Who doesn’t love balloons?! Balloons are such a staple decoration for those early birthdays and we just loved how they worked for this backdrop! Jen also picked up a flower garland from Lille Syster on Etsy. Jen sent me a fun little text today telling me after the shoot the garland was used as a birthday decoration at Lucie’s birthday party and now when she she’s it she calls it “Lucie’s Becky flowers” Awe, what a cutie!
Lucie has such a fun personality! I was warned she might be a little shy to start, but there was no shy-ness at all! We had a grand time! Playing with squishy toys, reading books and playing peek with Lucie’s best bud Sheepie! I can’t wait to see Lucie again in a few months in her new role as big sister! I’m sure she will be just as entertaining when she’s introducing me to her new bro or sis!

Everyone knows I’m a sucker for a cute little themed shoot so when Jordyn’s annual birthday shoot fell in the beginning of February this year I figured I may as well just ask her mom if she would plan an extra outfit for a Valentine’s backdrop…it felt like no time had passed and there was an email in my inbox of an outfit she found at H&M that was just perfect! From there the shoot turned into a heart themed session as Chantel made some adorable heart bunting for a second backdrop and brought lots of outfit options for Jordyn with hearts!
Jordyn started kindergarten this fall so I was very excited to hear about how she was liking school….her favourite thing about it? Gym! no surprise there! She was just as fun as ever telling silly stories and totally voguing for the camera….a few times she even said “lets do this pose next”! What a cutie! She is such a natural in front of the camera! I love it that getting to know kids from year to year allows them to feel totally comfortable being themselves during our shoots – yes, she really is this cute, fun, spunky and giggly in real life 😉

Dear sweet Stella, Stellie, Stellie Pie,
My oh my, what an amazing year it has been watching you grow and change and learn. You are the smartest, silliest and sweetest little lady! You have so many people who love you so very much, no matter where you show up it’s always a race to the door to greet you and you’re always smiling that big silly grin! We have had so many fun adventures this year trips to Fargo, Vancouver, Mexico…you are a pro at shopping and swimming!
You have learned so many tricks this year! You know what the cow, duck and sheep says, you love to dance and clap to music, you laugh big laughs like your silly aunties, you growl like grammy and wiggle like gramps, you play your own version of Marko Polo with your dad, you make lots of fun noises with your mouth and you’re even starting to take a few steps on your own. I love that we get to FaceTime almost every day so you can tell me all about the exciting day you had!
I know this year will be equally as exciting and I can’t wait for many many more adventures with Stella.
