Overheard during this shoot:
Becky: “i’ve taken pictures of Abby since she was little, we go WAY back!”
Abby: “it’s true, she took pictures of me when I had a boy haircut”
True story. I have taken pictures of Abby since she was just a kiddo in elementary school…but she never had a boy haircut! She was always just as cute as can be, and i’d show you except those pics are in my film portfolio in my parents basement! Yup, film! It’s been that long!
Abby has always been such a happy and friendly person and that hasn’t changed one bit in all the years I have known her. She lives just down the street from my parents house in Winkler and whenever I see her she always has the biggest smile on her face. Abby has one of those infectious personalities and you just can’t help but to be happy when you’re around her! Apart from her lovely personality Abby is also an extremely talented athlete and has done a lot of travelling with her involvement in volleyball AND to round it off and make this girl the whole package she is also so smart! This week Abby graduated with distinction and many scholarships and bursaries to her name! In the fall she will take on the great adventure of attending Asper School of Business (represent!) at the University of Manitoba!!
Abby was simply a bombshell in her grad dress the day of the shoot! She rocked that gold dress like nobody’s business! She had a lovely team of ladies to help her get ready, some of my fave in the business! Tracy Bueckert worked her make-up magic for Abby and her gorgeous up-do was courtesy of Jayci Elias at Salon Chop. Tagging along for the evening was her handsome boyfriend Austin who provided lots of laughs and entertainment for the evening. These two are so cute together! What a fun evening we had! The crew came in from Winkler for the shoot and we had a blast touring around some of my favourite locations! We even found blossoms and a field full of dandelions! Which I thought was such a perfect thing for this shoot….a field of wishes….wishes for Abby’s future!
Abby – I have so enjoyed capturing you as you have grown up over the years, you have grown up into such an amazing woman! With your love for life and your kind and friendly personality you are sure to do great things in your future! I can’t wait to see what adventures you take on in your future! I hope you had an amazing time at your grad!
Prepare for LOTS of gorgeousness! Enjoy!

I am so lucky to have these next four ladies in my life! Sometimes when I feel like i’m in a photography slump and I just need to go out and shoot for the love of it I always know I can count on these four being just an email away! Susanne always “gets me” and gets my visions – I didn’t even give her any wardrobe instructions for this shoot – just told her I wanted to do a cozy winter shoot. Of course, she had an old vintage sled and skis just ready for us to use! And her three little ladies are always such perfect little models and they’re clearly up for anything since they are all smiles even in the dead of winter! Lucky for all of us we were blessed with a GORGEOUS day in early February and we only needed one warm-up break during this shoot! And of course once we were all done the only way to end off this shoot was with some hot chocolate! YUMM!!
This winter shoot was exactly what I needed to pass those winter blues away and get myself inspired. Thanks ladies for always being up for a photography adventure!!! Love you!!!!
P.S. Don’t forget there’s still time to enter the Love Day Giveaway for your chance to win a session!!

Even though it’s been almost 11 years (gosh, I can hardly believe it), I remember the time leading up to my high school graduation like it was yesterday. I remember spending HOURS in the gym with my friends stringing snowflakes from the roof, constructing a snow castle and turning the gym into our winter wonderland. I remember being SO excited for the adventures that were before me! Meet Amber….she is in that home stretch leading up to her very own graduation! This Miss is SO uber talented that she is graduating a year early!! I can only image what her future holds for her, with her smarts and dedication she is sure to accomplish so many great things!
We had such a fun night together! She showed up for the shoot in her gorgeous grad dress(check back for those in a couple weeks after her grad!) and we checked out a few locations before we had a wardrobe change to something a little more casual. I was SO excited to see her little polka dot dress because it fit so perfectly for the retro looking motel I had picked out for her – I was so excited to shoot here…I had been eyeing it and saving it for the perfect shoot!

Today I got a big yellow envelope in the mail, I was SO excited! I LOVE getting mail. I looked at the printing on the envelope an thought to myself “I know this printing!” And I knew it was Hutch even before I opened it, because that’s just like her…sending packages in the mail….she does special things like that. One time she bribed me to come to Church on a Wednesday night when I would have rather just stayed home…she said to me “maybe you’ll meet you’re future husband tonight, and i’m leaving you a surprise in the bathroom cupboard” and sure enough, I did meet my future husband that night and she did leave me a surprise. It was the most special card….with a picture of me and John Mayer on the cover, and the inside was filled with little tidbits about how special our friendship was.
Hutch is the sweetest and most kind girl you will ever meet. Kinda of shy at first, but not shy at all when you get to know her! She’s always up for chicken fingers at Grapes or pizza at Pasquales, she will travel anywhere to see a good concert (namely Justin Timberlake or John Mayer), she will go crazy if she eats McDonalds or has Caffeine, she’s okay with turning the heat to MAX in a hotel room, she is dedicated to any activities she joins (especially swim teams!) and she can dress in layers like nobody’s business! Hutch is the kind of friend who is ALWAYS there for you, will always listen to you vent and is always thinking of others!
So….what was in that big yellow envelope? Rolling Stone Magazine. And not just any Rolling Stone Magazine, the very hard to find in Winnipeg Rolling Stone with John Mayer on the cover. It made my day!! Hutch, JM and I go waay back. On Saturday I asked Hutch to type out the Rolling Stone article so I could read it all (lol), I guess she figured getting me my own copy was easier 🙂
This past Saturday when it was very stormy outside, Hutch and I found shelter inside the Millennium Library and we took some photos and chatted over drinks and snacks. Here’s the first bit of our fun shoot!
