This weekend is back to shooting for me, back to shooting after a 4 week break, back to editing and blogging after break from that too. It felt great and it was so needed after going non-stop for so long. I thought I would have some profound blog post to write after my break but….I don’t. I spent most of the time cleaning the house, packing, organizing and watching waaaay too much Dawson’s Creek so the only things I have to report back are: my house is clean! And Pacey and Joey were SO meant to be together.
All it took to get me itching to pick up the camera again was a conversation I had with a client last weekend. I made a stop to drop some albums and the conversation turned to a summer shoot, a summer shoot in a lavender field she was planting, the wardrobe, the props….that was all I needed, I was inspired and ready to get back to work! Summer is just around the corner and my mind is now bursting full of ideas of summer fun shoots! Time to pick up the paint brush and paint my new chairs so I have everything all ready to go for my fabulous clients this summer!
Even though I haven’t been shooting over the past few weeks I do have a fresh shoot to leave with you, one I’ve been meaning to blog for so long but for some reason my fingers just never made it to they key board to get it done. Now’s the time! Take a look at a shoot I did this winter of three gorgeous little ladies
I shot this session at the same time we did our Valentines Day shoot, but I had SO much to share from that one I didn’t want to overload my readers with TOO much cuteness. I love this session, all the soft colours, the ruffles, the sparkles….all things feminine and girly. ENJOY!

Shortly after I posted a teaser picture to this shoot my fabulous gal pal Erika sent me a message and it said “its funny that for as long as I’ve know you you dislike the ra ra surrounding Vday…yet you produce these uhMAZING styled shoots in honor of the occasion!!” She’s right. I do hate the ra ra surrounding Valentines Day and I still think it’s a silly Hallmark holiday…I think that it’s so much more special when Chris surprises me with cupcakes and a card on any day other than Valentines day…a day where he’s doing it because he loves me…not because he’s expected to do something. BUT lets be honest I love pink. And hearts. And all things girly. In short, I love all the pretty things that come out for Valentines day and I LOVE putting together “daydream” shoots like this, so I couldn’t let this opportunity slip by! I called up three little models and begged them to pose for me….after a lot of begging (ok, not really) I had three little ladies travelling to the studio to meet me for this session. Their mom packed up their bags with lots of fun clothes, new Chuck Taylors and the prettiest cookies i’ve ever seen (yup, she made them!) and we had a party!!! Opps, I mean photoshoot, we had a photoshoot……but it sure felt like a party!
Today’s Valentines Day post is honour of the love between sisters! Whether it’s your sister by birth, or your sister from another mister don’t forget to share the love today with the fabulous girls/women in your life!
Happy Love Day!!
P.S. Don’t you just LOVE the paper heart garland?? After seeing paper garland on Pinterest I knew I HAD to have some…and when I imagined making it myself I usually imagined a disaster. Lucky for me I found this lovely little store on Etsy called Yellow Bird, Yellow Beard and Janee made me this perfect paper garland. You MUST check out her store – paper garland makes a perfect added touch for photoshoots!

I first started emailing with Amber from The Cotton Cupcake late last fall when I needed a special gift for a friend having twins. Our conversation quickly changed from baby onesies to our shared love for all things cupcakes, to her daughters, to a photoshoot with her daughters. We shared ideas over email about a spring shoot of her daughters making cupcakes in a field and it was pure torture for both of us to have these great ideas and have to wait all throughout the winter until we could do the shoot. Well the day finally came….and the day was COLD. Boo. So we picked a “rain date” and put all our ideas away until then. The second planned day for the shoot did not disappoint…it was a gorgeous summer day, the perfect day for a summer fun shoot out in the country!
Ambers sweet little girls are so entertaining! It was so much fun watching them interact with each other and seeing the special relationship they all have with each other. In the words of Madelyn (the youngest) the shoot was “awesome”.
Once you’re done taking a look at these photos head on over to The Cotton Cupcake to check out Amber’s creations! Those cute aprons the girls are wearing? Amber made them!

Ohhh where to start with these 3 ladies…..actually make that 4, I have 4 people to gush about for this shoot. Four years ago I had little experience shooting kids and in an effort to change that I said to my sister “hey, can you ask your friend Susanne if I can take pictures of her girls” and I am so glad I had the gutts to do it, because it started one of my favorite yearly traditions! When I think back to my first shoot with these girls, I can’t help but giggle about a few things….little Emily was so shy, and I think she only liked me because I gave her gum.
She was so little and now, the girl who used to not speak gives me ideas, tells me what shots she think would work great and pretty much talks my ear off! Myla is still sweet as ever! I’ll never forget the purple tutu she wore at our first shoot and the dance moves she showed me on the beach! She is always SO polite and kind to her sisters, you can see she loves them so much! And those dimples?! Ahh, they just melt my heart! And then there’s Natalie….who was missing her two front teeth the first time I took her picture
I’ll never forget the sweet shoes and leg warmers she wore to that first shoot, I told her I wanted some like hers and I think that won her over! She was the leader of the pack then and still is now. Big sister, always on the lookout for her little sisters. I love it when she gets the giggles during our shoots, once she starts she just can’t stop! Laughter is contagious and when she starts all her sisters start…all I have to do to get these girlies to giggle is say “look at your sisters” and for some reason just looking at each other brings out the giggles, the jokes, the tickles…I love it!!!
This is one shoot I scheme and dream all year for, I save up my ideas and send them to Susanne who works her magic and brings the ideas to life with her special loving touch. She is so creative and so imaginative! One of the things I love so much about our shoots is watching her as she see’s her girls laughing, enjoying and playing in the little world she created just for them. It’s so hard for me to walk away at the end of our shoots, I could snap and snap and snap. I never want them to end because it means I have to wait 365 more days to do it again.
Thanks to the little ladies for stepping in front of my camera and thanks to Susanne for trusting me with capturing her girls year after year. Love you all!!!
Sit back, relax and enjoy the show!!!

I’m a day dreamer. I always have been and always will be. I think it drove my mom nuts when I was a child because she would ask me to do something and I would go off on my way fully intending to do what she asked and my mind would start to wander and I’d find something to play with and an hour would pass and I had long forgotten what she asked me to do. Sorry mom! The times I day dream the most are when i’m driving, and sometimes my day dreams help me to create and dream the perfect settings for photoshoots….and that’s how this one came about. I could see a space full of pinwheels and a curious little girl exploring them. Lucky for me I have amazing clients who trust my visions and Mackenzie was the perfect little girl to set this up for! What a special thing to do for her 3 year photos! Yes, she’s only 3 and check out her killer style, what a little fashionista!!
When Mackenzie first arrived for the session and saw all the pinwheels she asked her mom while they weren’t turning and she told her we had to wait for the wind to come….well when the wind came it was SO much fun watching Kenzie get so excited and run around watching the different pinwheels. But you know how things are with kids, sometimes the excitement is short lived, so once we were done with the pinwheels we took a walk down a path behind us searching for bunnies, watching bumble bees and wishing on dandelions. It was a perfect evening!
Take a small peek at the fun we had together! Yes, 35 is small in comparison to the “keepers” from this shoot!

Running to check out the fast spinning blue one!

Little brother Owen got in on the action too, during a little grass stain 9-1-1

Love this shot! Little Miss Chatterbox was telling me all about her favorite kinds of ice cream!!

And my favorite family shot to end things off

What a week! I had planned on getting so much blogging done and this post should have been up on Monday BUT my computer had other ideas! By Tuesday my baby was at the Apple store getting some TLC and there was no blogging going on! Finally my laptop is back at home so lets get to it!!
It’s not an exaggeration to say that I was waiting for my summertime shoot with these 3 little ladies all year long. Their mom always comes up with the most inspired ideas and this year was no exception! It’s SO much fun to photograph these sweet little girls, sometimes I tell them “Don’t look at me! Look at your sisters!” and they look at each other and spontaneously burst into a fit of giggles….I LOVE IT! They have such a special relationship and I love to see how the littlest sister Emily just ADORES her big sisters….anytime she gets the chance she cuddles right up to her sisters. They have grown up SO much since our first shoot together and I can’t wait to continue to watch them grow.
I had so much fun with you girls!!! Can’t wait for next year!!! Susanne….I hope I captured your vision just as you had imagined! I adore you just as much as your girls
Thanks for your continued support and encouragement!
Enough gushing…on to the photos….I dare you to look at them without a smile on your face!!

And one of my favorite sequences to finish things off!
