What to Expect

I am an on-location, natural light photographer and will spend anywhere from 1-1.5 hours capturing a variety of images for you.

For family sessions with your little ones, we can meet at your home, a park, a fun location you have found or I can also suggest some locations. Bring along their favorite toys, books, a blanket or whatever might make them feel most comfortable. We want your kids relaxed and having fun so they think I’m there to play and just taking a few pictures in the process :)

I love capturing families interacting and having a great time together, so cuddle up with your kids on the picnic blanket, tickle them, sing songs and most importantly ignore me!! There will be plenty of time for hugs and snacks if your children need a little break from the action.

For Just 4 Fun and Maternity sessions we usually have time to visit two locations and have a couple wardrobe changes!  So pack along some favorites and if you can’t decide bring it all along and I can help!

Newborn sessions typically take place within the first 14 days after birth – the sooner the better! As they get older they stay awake for longer periods of time and are more alert making it more of a challenge to get those peaceful, sleepy shots. These sessions can last anywhere between 1-2+ hours, longer than a normal shoot because we take time to stop for feedings, changings and comforting snuggles for baby.

What you need to know about your newborn shoot:

  • During the first few days of having your new baby home, keep and eye on their sleepiest time of day and we will schedule the shoot around that and a time during the day with great indoor lighting.
  • I will set up in the room with the most natural light; I don’t need much room but make sure there is some space available. Other rooms I often use include master bedroom and the nursery to take some pictures of your darling in their new digs!
  • Have the room warmed up with a space heater or turn the heat up/air off. We want your baby to be nice and comfy even with they’re in their birthday suit.
  • If your schedule allows, try to feed baby 30 minutes or so prior to the start of the shoot (we can stop during the shoot for feedings too!).
  • Gather any special blankets you might like to use during the shoot so we can have them close by during the shoot.
  • If you want skin shots of your baby have them undressed and only in a diaper before I arrive so that we don’t have to disrupt them with undressing.

P.S. I’m slightly (that’s an understatement) scared of dogs, please keep your furry friends at a distance….by distance I mean, at home and far away from me! :)
