Last weekend I was out in my hometown of Winkler to shoot Kevin and Rebecca’s wedding. All week the forecast changed back and forth – rain, no rain, rain, no rain – but the morning of the wedding we all woke up to beautiful, sunny blue skies! The day was so relaxed and fun! I got to spend lots of time with just the bride and groom (my favourite) and then the wedding party joined us later in the day and they brought along lots of laughter (also my favourite).
Becs and Kevin – I am so happy for you two! Thank-you so much for choosing me to be a part of your wedding day, it was such an honour(and so much FUN)! Becs – I have so many memories with you and I’m so happy to add this one to the memory bank! You were such a beautiful bride!

While Rebecca was getting ready Kevin showed up to pick up some forgotten items, Becs made him turn around and she promptly hid behind chair.

I remember the week of Charles and Sara’s wedding checking the forecast periodically through the week…everything was looking great, sunny and 27 degrees said The Weather Network, I should have known that an early week forecast was unreliable but it was so great I wanted to believe it was true! Then on about Thursday the forecast changed and it said RAIN RAIN RAIN all weekend! Well the big day came and many many prayers were answered because it didn’t rain one drop on us!! Charles and Sara were blessed with amazing weather on their wedding day and we made the most of it! I LOVED that Charles and Sara chose to do a “first look” before the ceremony!! This gave us so much time to spend together taking photos. My favorite way to start the day is sneaking off with just the bride and groom for some photos of just the two of them!! I found a great little spot on the side of the road on the way to her parents’ house where I took them and then later in the afternoon we headed into the city with the whole wedding party and met up with their families for photos at Red River College. Charles and Sara were so much fun to spend the day with and their wedding party was so great! Bringing much laughter along wherever we went, and that was so much appreciated! CONGRATS Charles and Sara! Thank-you so much for allowing to be part of your special day! Hope you two are enjoying newlywed life!
Funny side note: When I booked this wedding I was in contact with Sara and on one email she cc’d Charles and I recognized his name so I asked her “did your fiance by chance go to high school in Winkler??” Sure enough, it was the Charles that I went to high school with. So at the wedding I did see some familiar faces, old friends who it had been way too long since I had seen and I even saw a past high school teacher. Small world! It’s fun how this business gets you in touch with people you used to see all the time!
Special thanks to Chris for coming along as my second shooter, driver, and the one to hold on to my step ladder so I didn’t fall! (Yes folks, he takes pictures too!)
On to the pics! Be sure to check out the slide show at the end of lots o’ wedding fun!
Charles waiting for his bride!

My perspective was of Sara…..

…and Chris’s was of Charles

Great shot above was another one of Chris’s

Love this close up Chris took….such a sweet moment!

Gorgeous girls!!

Sara was SO HAPPY all day!!! Constant giggling coming from her!

Sara’s Ommie was so adorable. I had to grab this shot of her during the family photos.

Special moment between Sara and her mom….

Had to throw this one of Matea in too!

Chris got this great shot of all the paparazzi! I bet Sara’s cheeks hurt at the end of this from smiling!

So I was flipping the date on my Shopaholics Daily Calendar today and this caught my eye, a tip for all the engaged girls out there!
“The best time to buy a wedding dress is right after Thanksgiving but before Christmas. As Alan Fields, the coauthor of Bridal Bargains says, ‘the dynamic of the wedding industry is that most people get engaged at Christmas, and most people who are planning a wedding get distracted by the holidays.’ The result is very lonely bridal-shop owners anxious for business”

You know what that means….GET SHOPPING! (wouldn’t have to tell me twice!)

After I posted the first tiny little peak of Cory & Lauren’s wedding I got a text from them telling me I almost made Lauren’s mom cry….to be honest, I love it when I make mom’s cry because it means i’m doing my job right. My response was “maybe next time”….so here’s my best effort at bringing in some tears
Cory & Lauren’s wedding was pretty epic….8 years in the making!! When Cory finally popped the question at Christmas last year it was a pretty exciting time, another wedding to talk about at work! Cory was coming over to the dark side and talking wedding with the girls and he joked that his “man reputation” was suffering because of it. Everything was planned so carefully, through every detail at the wedding you could see how much thought and effort they put into everything.
I had such a blast spending the day with these two and their fabulous wedding party and families! Cory always has a comeback for everything and Lauren has a smile that could light the prairie skies on the shortest day of the year! Things could go from a touching, quiet, serious moment to stitches of laughing in a matter of moments! These two are such a perfect match and it was so fun to capture all the special moments of their day!! Cory & Lauren, I wish you two a lifetime of special moments! Thank-you so much for choosing me to capture your day….despite my “i’m never shooting another wedding again” rant that you had to listen to two years ago! I’m glad I wasn’t serious about that because I wouldn’t have wanted to miss this!! :)
P.S. I stole my post title from the awesome speech Kelly gave….”….let’s toast to sweet love!” I’m pretty sure that will be a new wedding trend…toasting to sweet love!

That beautiful ring with the brown stone was made for Lauren from a ring that her grandmother left her when she passed away, it was SO beautiful!

When you’re shooting downtown in Winnipeg you run into some of the funniest people…a man walking buy told us about a suit jacket he bought at this building we were shooting at for a really great price…another guy driving buy on his bike asked us if we had champagne, when they told him “yes” he said “good, me too!” lol.

We finished the session on the Bay parkade for some nice golden sunshine! 27 degrees on September 25…who would have guessed!?

cupcakes! My fav!

I had to throw this picture in as well because this guy was SO good! Totally enjoyed listening to him before the ceremony started!

Lauren waited 8 years for the ring so I figured she’d done enough waiting and I better post at least one picture! Besides, when I saw this one it instantly made me smile, moments like this make me happy
Have fun in Paris you two! Bring me back a piece of the Eiffel Tower! (I don’t ask for much).

Between packing, moving, unpacking and photoshoots this last week has been a little bit crazy for me; I’m still without internet at home which feels a little bit weird!! And has prevented me from doing any blogging. But all the craziness was paused yesterday for Susan and Troy’s wedding. This couple was such a pleasure to be around all day (and their wedding party was a hoot too!). Susan is one of the most polite, kind and thoughtful people i’ve ever met. As she was walking down the long aisle/path at Leo Mol yesterday I was taking some shots and as she passed by me she said “thank-you”….like I said SO POLITE. Troy kept me on my toes…pulling out his best blue steel or magnum whenever he had a chance! Susan and Troy are so cute together and you can see their love shining through when their laughing, joking, sharing a kiss or just standing and holding hands.
Thank-you guys so much for making me a part of your day! It was such a pleasure to capture your special day!! Here’s something for you to look at until your sneak peek is ready!
AND a BIG Thank-you to my partner in crime for the day, Trish! I love having you as my extra set of eyes! We’ve done this together for so long that we can tell what the other is thinking with a look! My days are always more fun when you come along, Love you!!

Anyone who knows me knows I love to laugh! And I also love it when the laughs come out during the photos! I think this giggle was over something about Susan falling in love at first sight with Troy when he was dressed up as a gorilla…..:)
