So i’ve finally made it to the last shoot I have to blog from 2011!  I went to visit Cooper on New Years Eve and he was ready to party and sure did not want to sleep….until his dad brought him to his favourite comfy spot and then there was no stopping those eyes from falling into sleep! How much do you love his hair?  Those perfect little fly away spikes….he is just too cool for school!

I’m sure you all remember this gorgeous baby bump from October, and now the baby from that bump has arrived!  I went to meet tiny little Zoey (all 6 lbs of her!) when she was just six days new and she showed me just how good at sleeping she is!  She tried to keep her eyes open for a little while, but after a good swaddled and a little holding from mom she was out!  And stayed that way for most of her shoot!  I had a relaxing morning with Kevin and Colleen, snapping pictures as Zoey slept and hearing all about their new adventures in parenthood….they were only 6 days into at the time but they handled everything like old pros!  Zoey was born with a gorgeous head of hair (that even shines a little bit red when the light hit it at just the right angle!) and i’m sure she’ll take after mom and be sporting adorable headbands in no time!

Thanks so much for having me Kevin and Colleen!  I can’t wait to watch Zoey grow and develop her own little personality!  Enjoy!!

And now for a peek into Zoey’s pink paradise :)

Last week I had a little afternoon date with Jana, Stef and little Ryleigh.  As the sunlight streamed in we sat in Ryleigh’s new room, it was so nice and cozy in there…the perfect temperature for a sleeping baby in her “birthday suit”.  It’s always fun doing a newborn shoot for a friend and watching them step into the role of “mom”…it seemed seamless for Jana as she sat in the chair and fed Ryleigh like a pro, changed her in record time and swaddled her nice and tight.  I treasure the moments I get to spend visiting with new moms and hearing the stories about how their new pride and joy came into the world….I especially loved the time I got to spend with Jana last week, she is such a fabulous mom to Ryleigh and I could almost see “rays of love” radiating from her and landing on sweet little Ryleigh.

Enjoy these pics of Jana and Stef’s new little miss….

Check out sweet baby Mason!  He was just 14 days new when I went to his house for the photos!  He thought he was going to stay awake the whole time and he tried to really hard, but eventually he gave into his yawns and fell asleep :)  Want to know a secret about this session?  we took half of these photos while he was sleeping on his mama’s lap because we didn’t want to wake him up by moving him.  I’ll do whatever it takes to get those sleepy shots!!  ENJOY!!

And a wave goodbye to finish things off :)

♥ Meet Logan

Posted under Newborn

I met Logan when he was just 11 days old.  Still nice and sleepy and squishy!  He started out this session awake then mom (and the blow drier) worked their magic and he fell fast, fast asleep and stayed that way for almost the whole session!  Big brother Hudson came and went during the session just to check-in and see what was going on….nothing too interesting, just his mom and I chatting while Logan slept and I took pictures.

I was watching the movie Annie this morning as I was working on these pictures and the song “Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile” came on and I felt it was quite fitting because this home is full of so many smiles…how can you not feel happy when everyone around you always has a smile on their face!?  I love watching moms and dads with their new baby’s – so much love in the simplest little touches and moments of soothing.  LOVE it.  So many moments like that during this shoot I had a hard time choosing what to share!  Enjoy!!

Getting ready with dad

After a few shots with his eyes open mom took a moment to snuggle with Logan and put him to sleep :)

Yesterday morning, I head out into the winter wonderland and made my way to Dennis and Chantel’s house to meet their newest little additions Jack and Ruby.  As soon as I stepped into the house I was greeted by big sister Jordyn who eagerly asked me “want to see my babies?!”  and she led me to where they were sleeping (well Ruby was sleeping, Jack was just hanging out).  Just 7 days old and it’s easy to see Ruby is a little miniture Jordyn and Jack looks just like his dad, they are both so cute!  A house filled with 3 adorable children…what blessed parents!

My favorite thing about newborn shoots is that they are on a little slower pace so I always get to chat with the parents.  During a break for feeding I sat with Chantel as she feed both of the babies at once, and I couldn’t help but sit there in complete admiration of this gorgeous woman who has such a glowing, positive and realistic attitude, she’s taken having twins in stride and even went out with Jordyn this weekend for pedicures!  She has an amazing support in her husband Dennis who tag teams everything with her! I loved watching these two in action together.  Although he is out numbered, Dennis is now not the only man of the house and what a proud dad he is! Hauling out his green Roughriders blanket to have me photograph his future quarterback in!!

I have so many special photographs of my time together with this family, here are just a few of my favorites…I would share them all but I have to leave some surprises for mom and dad :)

Here’s Ruby!

Ruby was so sleepy during the shoot….that or we were boring her ;)

And here’s Jack!!

My favorite shot of Jack…such a sweetie.

Jordyn could barely contain her excitement as mom and dad put both Jack and Ruby in her arms…such a proud and loving big sister!

While mom and dad were trying to calm Jack a little bit Ruby didn’t let the fuss get to her, she was out cold!!

Jack and mom sharing a snuggle.

Eventually Jack fell asleep too :) using his sister as a pillow, he he.

This little lady did not want to miss out on the Christmas festivities in 2010 so she decided to make her entrance a little early!  When I made my visit to meet Cavell she was just 8 days old and so tiny and cute!  She was a star during her newborn session, sleeping and sleeping and sleeping.  She only woke up a few times, but couldn’t resist the power of her dad’s tight swaddle and she quickly fell back asleep!

Watching this sweet little family together you can’t help but smile.  It’s clear that Cavell is the apple of her daddy’s eye and her mom showers her with love with every touch, kiss and cuddle.  It’s okay if you say “awwwe” when you look at the family photos, I did too.

Little miss sleepy head…tuckered out even before we started!

Check out the gorgeous blanket, knited with love just for Cavell by one of her favorite aunties!

This next picture is my favorite family picture.  Ever.  It just makes me smile :)

Well i’m back.  To be quite honest, it was so hard to get back into working after the holidays ended.  I started out the new year with that lovely flu that was going around (joy!) and after I got some energy back I had such a hard time sitting and concentrating for more than 5 minutes at a time.  I soooooo enjoyed the holidays when all I did on my computer was play Tetris (i’m addicted, please don’t judge!)  But I finally got back into the mode of working today and am starting the new year out with TWO bundles of joy that I photographed during the holidays.

Way back in the day when I worked in the photolab at IGA in Winkler I worked with a girl named Erin.  She was spunky, energetic and whenever you were working with her it was SURE to be a good time!  I can remember many sing-a-longs with Erin and I have to say we were quite good at the Saved by the Bell theme song and Bayside cheer “we’re the Bayside Tigers and we’re on the prowl….!”  Back to present day, I was sitting in a plane this summer getting ready to fly off to Victoria when my Blackberry buzzed and I got Erin’s message asking me to take the newborn photos of her twins who were due in December.  WOW!  I was so flattered and SO excited!  First I asked her if she was sure…because I had never worked with twins before!  But she was sure and I guess there is a first time for everything!

During my holiday trip to Winkler to see my family I made the trip over to Erin and Justin’s home to meet tiny tiny little Brynn and Adelynn.  They were so sweet!  It may have taken a little coaxing but eventually we got them sleeping at the same time…thanks to that new blowdryer Erin got for Christmas!  For as much change as they had been through in the ten days before I got there Erin and Justin were so relaxed the day of the shoot and it was so cute to see them shower their little girls with allll the love!  Check out this sweetness…..

Annnnd I couldn’t go over to meet the twins empty handed, so thanks to Amber at the Cotton Cupcake who made these adorable onesies I brought to the twins!
