When we started planning this session we just knew it had to be an outside session,  Jen and Phil love the outdoors and it’s not often we get nice mild temperatures in early January!  We couldn’t let it go to waste!  As the day started approaching I was a little worried the session would look like a November session and not a January session because we had very little snow…and with the temperatures that week jumping above zero I was sure any snow that was left would be gone for the shoot!  But we lucked out and the day before the shoot the city got sprinkled with a gorgeous thick layer of snow!  AND the temperatures stayed mild…WIN!

Jen and I go waaaay back.  Way back to the early days in Winkler when I was just a rink rat watching the older figure skaters from behind the glass at the Winkler arena just dreaming of the day I would be out there with them.  Jen’s lucky I haven’t made it to my parents house between this blog post and then because I might have been tempted to scan some old pictures just to prove that we knew each other way back when!  I love how photography has allowed me to reconnect with old friends and watch them take oh. so. exciting steps in their lives.  Jen and Phil are expecting their first lil babe very soon and I can’t wait to meet him or her!

Enjoy these photos from our very lovely winter day!

In the “baby world” there is a trend of having “gender reveal parties” something I think is so cool and fun!  The parents to be and all their close family get together and a ballon release, or cutting a cake, or something at the party signals the gender of the baby.  This summer one weekend Kevin and Colleen planned to have their families over for a gender reveal BBQ….when the family came over they would know by the menu whether this little babe was going to be a boy or a girl….hamburgers for a girl, hot dogs for a boy (te he).  When the family came over, it was hamburgers on the BBQ  and adorable pink cupcakes baked and decorated by this talented mom to be! A GIRL!

Her pink paradise is ready and her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends anxiously await the arrival of the little princess in about a month (give or take ;) ).  Even though she’s not here yet there are a few things we already know about this little peanut: one – she is going to be soo cute!  How can she not be with two such great looking parents! Two – she is going to be oh-so loved and spoiled by all the loving family that surrounds her! Three – her dad is not going to cut the cord when she comes into the world!

I met up with Kevin and Colleen a couple weeks ago to photograph Colleen’s adorable bump and capture their excitement as they get ready to bring their little princess into the world!  We started out at an old school, headed to my secret forest and then finished off in my favorite late fall setting – a corn field!  If her fabulous blue eyes look familiar they should!  They are related to these famous blue eyes!  This little peanut is going to be a cousin to two of the most photographed B2 Kiddos – Mackenzie and Owen!  I can just see these three growing up together, getting into a little mischief and making many memories on their family holidays!

Thanks for the fun evening you two!  Can’t wait to meet your baby girl!!!

I was so happy to go out with Patrice and Nicole a couple weeks ago for their maternity session, we walked around downtown and talked about the upcoming birth of their baby and they took the time to document this moment in time of them anticipating the arrival of their new baby!

This cute little family of three is very soon to be a family of four!  I went by in early January to capture a few 2-year pictures, some family shots and some belly shots!

Love photos of little girls getting all primped by mom :)

So anyone who has emailed me for a session this fall knows the fall months booked up FAST and a long long time ago, when summer was still just beginning!  This next family coming up knew to plan ahead this year after not getting in for a session last fall.  Pamela waited patiently for a whole year to have her fall session with me!  Talk about flattery.

A few weeks ago we spent a Sunday morning at the park and I chased Jonah around (a spunky two year old who loves The Wiggles and will soon have a new brother or sister to entertain!), took some family shots and some shots of Pamela and her perfect pregnant belly!

Thanks so much for believing in me enough to wait a whole year for a session!!  I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed my morning with your family :)

There’s a little mischief in those eyes I think ;)

The above shot is probably one of my favourites…there’s just something about it, the cheeks, the eye lashes the smile… :)

GORGEOUS blue eyes!

LOVE a little lens flare and LOVE this family shot on the swings!

I remember the day Tracy told me she was going to have a baby.  We were having lunch at one of our favorite little cafe’s downtown and I was blabbing about my wedding and Tracy was quieter than normal…I thought maybe she had something to tell me but she didn’t….so I just kept on talking and talking.  All of the sudden she says to me “i don’t feel very good” and I said “I noticed you’re not eating much” then the truth spilled out “I don’t feel very good because i’m pregnant”….excitement ensued and hasn’t really stopped since.  It’s so much fun hearing about her plans for the nursery and her adventures putting polka dot decals on the wall!

When Tracy told me she wanted to take her maternity pictures in the spring I was so excited because this meant we could get OUTSIDE! Yay!  Lucky for us the melt has been great and it was nice and dry outside (even though the forecast said rain/snow for today!!) and we were free to explore.  Tracy makes being pregnant look so glamourous!  I was so giddy while taking the pictures because I knew they were going to be fabulous when I sat down to edit them…..which I couldn’t wait to do!!!!  So here’s your very long sneak peek Tracy!
