Sometimes you plan a session in your mind and then it turns out completely different when it’s show time.  Chantel and I brainstormed for an indoor spot for Jordyn’s four-year pictures because we were sure the beginning of January would be too friggid to be outside for any period of time.  We were wrong.  Chantel put her order in for the weather and a nice mild day greeted us when we arrived for the shoot!  We met at The Park Cafe inside the Qualico Family Centre at the Assiniboine Park enjoyed some hot chocolate, a few pages from Pinkalicious and some photos inside.  Then we bundled up and head outside for some photos of Jordyn and her sled (well actually Jack and Ruby’s sled…but don’t tell them!). The winter photos of Jordyn in her red toque and jacket are some of my favourite winter photos!  I had so much fun capturing Jordyn as she explored the forrest and spied for bunnies and squirrels!

Jordyn steals my heart again and again after each shoot I have with her, this lil lady has the personality to go along with the smiles and giggles you see in these photos!  Sometimes I have a hard time trying to pick which photos of Jordyn to blog because there are always so many with giggles, but there is also something so sweet and innocent about the photos of her when she’s a little bit more serious….those big brown eyes are just so perfect!

I just adore those curly pig-tails!

A little girl and her sled…

Lately i’m lovin’ pics of kids laughing so hard their eyes close!

“Look in here mom!”

“This way!!!”

I can’t show you too much of this last one just yet…but if you’ve been coming to the blog for a while i’m sure you can guess who these little Chucks belong too :) You’ll have to wait for LOVE day for the rest of this one!

When we started planning this session we just knew it had to be an outside session,  Jen and Phil love the outdoors and it’s not often we get nice mild temperatures in early January!  We couldn’t let it go to waste!  As the day started approaching I was a little worried the session would look like a November session and not a January session because we had very little snow…and with the temperatures that week jumping above zero I was sure any snow that was left would be gone for the shoot!  But we lucked out and the day before the shoot the city got sprinkled with a gorgeous thick layer of snow!  AND the temperatures stayed mild…WIN!

Jen and I go waaaay back.  Way back to the early days in Winkler when I was just a rink rat watching the older figure skaters from behind the glass at the Winkler arena just dreaming of the day I would be out there with them.  Jen’s lucky I haven’t made it to my parents house between this blog post and then because I might have been tempted to scan some old pictures just to prove that we knew each other way back when!  I love how photography has allowed me to reconnect with old friends and watch them take oh. so. exciting steps in their lives.  Jen and Phil are expecting their first lil babe very soon and I can’t wait to meet him or her!

Enjoy these photos from our very lovely winter day!

It’s no secret that Beverly Hills 90210 has been monopolizing the TV at my house lately, thanks to Netflix.  My husband LOVES it, and by love I really mean he’s threatening to take Netflix away from me if I keep watching it so much, especially the other day after I called him Dylan.  I kid, I kid!  In the spirit of 90210 today Web Wednesday combines BH90210 with my favourite website ever…Wikipedia :)

I’ve been known to watch TV with my iPad always nearby so I can check out “hey, what’s that guy from?” or “I wonder if this girl has done anything since this show” a quick check on Wikipedia or IMDB and I have my answer.  Last week while Googling Jack McKay (aka, Roman Brady – Days of Our Lives & Michael Hogan – The Hogan Family) I came across this little gem.  Check it out for ALL your BH 90210, Melrose Place and (new)90210 trivia!

I got completely addicted to the new 90210 on Netflix, and now that I somehow watched all 80 episodes (in an embarrassingly short timeframe), I am going to move onto the original!

  • How many different kinds of KD does the world need?  Just give me the original!!
  • Fridges, fridges, fridges!  I’ve never been good with decisions so I guess it’s time to learn!
  • This main event on Netflix this week was the downfall of Dylan McKay…it was hearbreaking!
  • Ooooh an Etsy order in the mail this week!  You’ll have to wait to find out was in there, the only clue i’ll give you is that it’s for a special shoot with three special little girls!
Here’s to another great week!

So i’ve finally made it to the last shoot I have to blog from 2011!  I went to visit Cooper on New Years Eve and he was ready to party and sure did not want to sleep….until his dad brought him to his favourite comfy spot and then there was no stopping those eyes from falling into sleep! How much do you love his hair?  Those perfect little fly away spikes….he is just too cool for school!

Since I’ve become an iPhone owner i’ve pretty much neglected to bring a “real” camera anywhere, with my iPhone it’s just so easy…the pictures magically show up on my computer through Photo Stream without even downloading them and it’s easy peasy to upload them to Facebook right from the phone.  I’m also addicted to Instagram!  I love it!  So with all these random photos sitting in my iPhone I figured this would be a fun way to give you a glimpse into my week :)

  • It’s a well known fact at my office that I am a.) afraid of dogs and b.) don’t like dogs….and well, my friends almost all have dogs and all bug me about them.  I didn’t even notice this photo pop up on the locker in my cube until my friend Lindsay pointed it out….everyone said “isn’t it cute??” I said “I like that is had my logo on it”.
  • Windows!  Our home-to-be got windows this week!
  • Spent a bunch of lunch hours this week reading the Jasmine Star Exposed magazine…this woman is my photo hero!
  • Out for a walk to scope out all my spots for Jen and Phil’s Baby Bump shoot!  It was faaaaabulous!  Can’t wait to show it off on the blog!
Here’s to another great week!!

After a week of blog maintenance and a week of holidays it’s time to get back into Web Wednesdays!

A few years back a friend tipped me off on The Big Picture and it’s been on my Bookmarks ever since!  The website is run by the photo editors at The Boston Globe and features amazing photography covering current events.  The pictures are amazing and the stories they tell are equally amazing!  To get you started on The Big Picture here are a few of my favorite posts over the years:

Earth Hour – This one is a must see!  It actually shows a before/after of famous city skylines!
2010 & 2011

Vancouver Olympics -  The photo of Joanie Rochette gets me every time!  That was THE Olympic moment for Canada in 2010!
Part 1 & Part 2

Fashion Week Behind the Scenes

Snow Scenes – It might not be snowy in Winnipeg, if you need a snow fix check out these gorgeous shots!! My favorite is #3, it reminds me of the move The Holiday :0)

Head on over to The Big Picture, you’re just in time for the Best of 2011 posts!!!
